Absolute Charm Benefit for Teachers Brings Over $15,000

Absolute Charm’s Back to School BBQ fundraiser has raised over $15,000 for local teachers.

“At Absolute Charm Real Estate Group, we strive to host at least two events per year that benefit our amazing community,” a spokesperson said. “This is our second community event this year and since two of our staff members have spouses as teachers, we knew firsthand how much money teachers spend out of pocket on their classrooms.”

According to information provided by Absolute Charm, the average teacher spends $750 a year out of pocket (Source: adoptaclassroom.org).

“So we knew we wanted to help teachers in some way,” the spokesperson said. “We thought about doing bigger gift cards and a drawing, but ultimately decided to aim to give every teacher in the Fredericksburg Independent School District a $50 Amazon gift card. We know that amount doesn’t even scratch the surface of what they spend out of pocket, but these days, every little bit counts.

“We also wanted to show them the power of community support and how much we appreciate them all, not just asking for donations, but having a really fun back-to-school BBQ.”

The event included a dunk tank, Backwoods BBQ (which donated 30 pounds of barbecue and potato salad), Stacy Lorraine Photography, which donated free back-to-school portraits, shaved ice from the Kona Ice truck and a balloon arch from All the Conciergerie Things FBG.

“By far the biggest hit was the dunk tank where donors and guests could try dunking their favorite teachers, principals and even Tammy Pack,” a spokesperson said. “Hill Country Patriot’s amazing Harley David Belew broadcast the event live.”

There are 229 FISD teachers, and in order for Absolute Charm to provide a gift card to every teacher, organizers needed to reach a goal of $11,450. To get the ball rolling and as an incentive for donations, Absolute Charm owners Tammy and Wes Pack offered a $5,000 donation.

“Thanks to the companies: Select Title, Home Simple Goods, 72 Degrees, First United’s Brad Hardin, and countless people, we not only reached our goal, but surpassed $12,000,” the spokesperson said. .

Other donors include Tammy and Wes Pack, Hill Country Titles, Rathskeller Restaurant and Western Edge Kitchen & Cocktails.

With the excess money, Absolute Charm will expand donations so that every private school teacher can also receive a $50 Amazon gift card.
