Construction begins on $ 899 million station at Los Angeles Airport

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Construction of an $ 898.6 million station has begun that will connect Los Angeles International Airport directly to the region’s light rail and bus systems, solving an age-old problem decades.

The airport metro connector will be connected to an automated passenger train under construction to transport people to and from the airport terminals. A ceremony was held Monday to mark the start of the work.

“This innovation is a critical step in our efforts to provide residents and visitors with genuine alternatives to traffic,” said Los Angeles City Councilor Mike Bonin, who also serves on the Los Angeles County Board of Directors. Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The station will have platforms for access to Metro light rail trains, a bus area, a passenger disembarkation area, a bicycle hub and a commercial space.
