Helen Skelton disappeared from Countryfile again after split as fans get angry at episode

Helen Skelton, was absent from Sunday night’s episode of Countryfile following the split from her husband, who plays for The Leeds Rhinos.

The Countryfile star shared the sad news of her marriage ending in a touching Instagram post last week – the couple had been together since 2011.

Helen38, had revealed her husband Richie Myler had ‘moved out of the family home’ – it has since been revealed that Richie, 31, had started a new romance with the club chairman’s daughter, Stephanie Thirkill.

The couples split came just four months after the couple welcomed their third child, Elsie Kate. They are also parents to sons Ernie, six, and Louis, four.

They had been together since 2011 and got married in December 2013. In 2015, they moved to France when Richie played for the Catalans Dragons.

There was no mention of Helen on tonight’s show or any explanation as to where she was, although not all of the presenters are there every week, so it could be a coincidence. She was also absent from last week’s episode of Countryfile, which took place just days after the split was announced.

Elsewhere in the episode, a section on Brexit and vets pissed people off.

The segment explored how a shortage of new vets has impacted farms and the countryside, caused by Brexit.

And people were quick to react with anger both because of the content of the segment and, for some, because of the focus on it.

@Janetsmith said: “The BBC just said the B word. Brexit has caused a severe shortage of agricultural vets. We were counting on European vets to come here.”

@Simongosden added: “# countryfile exposing the #brexit catastrophe on the lack of vets and the impact on human health due to a lack of controls on food imports from the EU #BrexitReality #BrexitDisaster #brexithasfailed No one” was available” from the government to respond!”

@GillianMcshane said: “This report on the state of the veterinary profession is horrifying, but not surprising. None of the new grads are willing to work weekends or out of hours. I myself lost an animal because a vet wouldn’t show up OOO . It’s not a vocation anymore…”

@MargaretNelson said: “Another negative effect of Brexit has been covered on #Countryfile. The shortage of farm vets is a very serious issue, potentially affecting disease control and animal welfare, as well as stress on the vets we have.”

But @Bib29823254 added: ‘Here we go… the bbc is back to bashing Brexit’.

@donlemons said: “I think countryfile needs to be shut down ASAP. Anyone would think the government made Britain. What about all the benefits we got from Brexit like regain control of tax evasion.”

And in another segment, the presenters discussed issues affecting cows, including a small detail that turned some people off their tea.

@NFGMart said: “I’m so glad they talk about cow vulvas at tea time…

@mowermanjimmy said: “Teets and Vulva is on #countryfile and it’s not even 6pm…..”
