Strong increase in annual turnover in all of the Group’s activities

Revenue from the electricity business reached € 6.5 million at the end of June 2021, up 11% compared to fiscal year 2020. This increase reflects the optimal production at the Group’s historic sites (despite the 30 000 hours of maintenance on machines installed in France) and the positive contribution of the Béthune site commissioned in January 2021 (€ 634,000 in turnover this year). In France, the Group continues to benefit from a guaranteed feed-in tariff for its electricity activity, thus securing 54% of its total turnover.

The rise in electricity prices in Belgium with an average selling price of € 42.7 / MWH (+ 42%) also supported the generation of electricity income in Wallonia, which represents 9% of turnover. of the group. LFDE is also continuing its efforts to activate the contribution to the turnover of its Green Certificates compared to its Belgian production since 2019.

The gas production activity posted an annual turnover of 3.5 million euros, up 81% compared to last year, thanks to a significant increase in both volumes sold (+ 33%) and gas prices resulting from the upturn in economic activity in Europe (+ 36%, with an average sale price of € 14.9 / MWH over fiscal year 2021).

The additional turnover of the new heat activity linked to the Béthune project and to the largest solar thermal power plant connected to a heating network in Creutzwald reached 178 K € during fiscal year 2021 (zero the previous year ).

In total, the electric cogeneration maintenance program completed in France, the upcoming full-year contribution from the Béthune and Creutzwald projects (€ 942,000 in revenue over this half-year), as well as the confirmed price recovery. , will strongly contribute to the next income of the year.

Growth prospects confirmed for fiscal year 2022

Over the coming months, the Group will pursue its development plan and strengthen its unique positioning with the deployment of new local low-carbon energy solutions and the commissioning of 5 new cogeneration units at Avion and Anderlues, representing 7.5 MW of additional capacity, bringing the number of operational cogeneration operations in the portfolio to 15.

Following the acquisition of Greenhill in February, LFDE also validated the initial development of 6 cogeneration plants in Belgium, 9 MW of which will be installed during the first half of 2022 on the new South Charleroi concession. The Group will then have secured nearly 64% of its installed capacity target to be reached by the end of 2022.

In Lorraine, on the basis of technical and economic feasibility studies carried out on various development options for all or part of its gas reserves certified by the production of carbon-free hydrogen, the Group will confirm by the end of the summer its strategy of developing the most economical and environmental competitive local solution, in particular by using Lorraine coals as important carbon sinks for storing CO2. Any authorizations required to set up a pilot production of carbon-free hydrogen will be submitted this fall.

Regarding the solar activity, LFDE will launch in September construction work on its 15 MW photovoltaic project in Tritteling and plans to commission it by the end of June 2022. Likewise, a new photovoltaic project on a former coal mine in Crehange in Eastern France has been secured, with the objective of submitting this project to the next call for tenders from the Energy Regulatory Commission which will take place at the end of 2021.

The Group is also finalizing debt financing solutions with financial institutions for its various projects in order to support the group’s long-term development strategy, as LFDE recently did with the crowdfunding of € 3.3 million raised. for the two Avion cogeneration units.

La Française de l’Energie thus confirms its objective of achieving annualized revenue of € 35 million and an EBITDA margin of over 45% by the end of 2022.
