PCOO commissioned to cover all Duterte events

MANILA – The Presidential Office of Communications Operations (PCOO) has a simple explanation for the allegations that government resources are being used to cover the activities of President Rodrigo Duterte.

“It is our duty to cover all the events that the President of the Republic honors with his presence,” PCOO secretary Lorraine Marie Badoy said in a press release on Sunday.

Badoy reacted to the remark by Bayan Muna party list representative Carlos Isagani Zarate that the broadcast of the president’s July 6 meeting with officials of the ruling party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP -Laban), was a “shameless demonstration of impunity using government time.” and resources for clearly partisan political activity ”.

People’s Television Network broadcast the PDP-Laban meeting on July 7, while other government-run media and social media accounts have covered it.

Badoy stressed the importance of covering all of the president’s events, noting that the PCOO is proud that Duterte is “the most visible president” in the country’s history.

She noted that broadcasting all of Duterte’s events contributed to her high confidence and approval.

“It has also made him the most trusted public servant in his administration, with unprecedented ratings of trust and approval that can only be the envy of leaders around the world. Filipinos trust him because they know him. And they know him because the PCOO covers his every move, every word he says so that we know who he is and what he stands for, ”she added.

Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said on Thursday that the “political figure” of Duterte, also chairman of PDP-Laban, could not be separated from his official duties as the country’s chief executive.

“Good, iiwan ko na po iyang publish has nothing to do with sinasabi ninyong partisan activities (I will leave the question of partisan activities you speak of) to you. Pero (But) the president has always been president of the PDP-Laban and there is no way to separate the president’s political personality from his office because halal nga po siya ng taong bayan (he is elected by the people) ”, declared Roque during a press briefing.

During the meeting, PDP-Laban members renewed their call for Duterte to run for vice-presidency in 2022.

Duterte said he was “seriously thinking about it”.

Zarate’s NPA connection

Badoy, also a spokesperson for the government’s counterinsurgency task force, criticized Zarate for accusing the PCOO of engaging in activities in which Bayan Muna members are themselves “experts”.

“What Zarate accuses the PCOO of is something that the New People’s Army (NPA) bloc is not only guilty of but of which they are experts – the brazen abuse of government time and resources to undermine and weaken government and bring great suffering and pain for our people, ”she said.

Badoy also doubts that the Makabayan bloc, which she also referred to as the NPA bloc, could achieve such high trust and approval ratings as Duterte’s.

“If the media followed (the founder of the Communist Party of the Philippines) the faithful servants of Jose Maria Sison around – Zarate, (Ferdinand de Bayan Muna) Gaite, (Eufemia) Cullamat de Bayan Muna, (Sara) Elago de Kabataan, ( Arlene) Brosas de Gabriela, and (France) Castro of ACT, will the Filipino people give them their trust and approval as they did to our president? Big luck, ”she said.

Badoy also assured that the PCOO will continue to work so that Filipino voters know how members of the CPP-NPA-National Democratic Front (NDF) in Congress have enabled the most unforgivable crimes against indigenous peoples, the poor and children.

“We are working tirelessly so that the shadow of the terrorist CPP-NPA-NDF never again darkens the halls of Congress and that we have purged ourselves of the toxic presence of communist terrorism by 2022,” she said. declared. (ANP)
