Kyiv detained a Russian agent who was collecting information on the location of military equipment, checkpoints and critical infrastructure. The 60-year-old Ukrainian woman had carried out acts of espionage both in the capital and in the wider region.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) revealed that an incident occurred on the cross-platform social media Telegram.
They said: “The enemy planned to use this data for targeting missile strikes, as well as for possible sabotage in Kyiv.”
SSU added: “The 60-year-old Ukrainian citizen received assignments from her curators in the Russian Federation and gave them photos and geographical locations of military installations.”
The woman was detained for treason.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The SSU also said: “Measures aimed at exposing and documenting illegal activities were taken by SBU employees in Kyiv city and Kyiv region under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office. “
However, it is not only in Ukraine that Russian spies appear to have been apprehended.
Richard Moore, the head of MI6, said: “We in the UK feel that this has probably halved their ability to do their spy business for Russia in Europe.”
“Russia is prioritizing the capture of critical national infrastructure, such as power plants.”
The Ministry of Defense added: “However, it is likely also trying to break through at Vuhlehirska, as part of its efforts to regain momentum on the southern pincer of its advance towards the key towns of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk.”
