Tottenham’s transfer to midfielder Pape Matar Sarr is progressing, with the youngster due to spend the season in France.
It is according to Foot Mercato, who say the Spurs are in “Advanced negotiations” with the current Metz club, and the player’s entourage, regarding the move.
Tottenham’s surprise push for the youngster was revealed in France, explaining that Fabio Paratici saw an opportunity in the market and chose to seize it.
FM is following this today and says Sarri will sign a deal until June 2026 with Tottenham but will not immediately join them; instead, it is ‘expected’ he will rather spend a season with the Lorraine club.
This is supported by French journalist Ignazio Genuardi, who says Sarr underwent a medical exam for Tottenham today and will then return to France on loan for a year.
He says England’s biggest teams were chasing the midfielder, but it’s Spurs who ‘won the auction’, and there is a ‘total agreement ‘ with the player. He says, however, that he will sign a six-year contract.
Africa Sports have their own take on the situation and say Tottenham are paying € 10m to sign Sarr, but the deal is € 5m with € 5m in bonus.
Their source confirms that Spurs are “close to an agreement” and the entourage of the players are in ‘advanced discussions ” to complete the movement.
The feeling is that the deal could be done in the coming days, with Tottenham beating Manchester United and Manchester City on signing.
