Many fans were shocked after Will Smith punched comedian Chris Rock live on stage at the Oscars last night.
The father-of-three has carved out a “nice guy” image in Hollywood since his rise to fame in the Fresh Prince of Belair in the 90s.
The King Richard star hit the comic after making a joke about Will’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
The drama unfolded when Chris joked about Jada Pinkett Smith’s buzzcut, quipping, “Jada, I can’t wait for GI Jane 2.”
Later that evening, Will won Best Actor and as he took the stage he slapped the presenter, before returning to his seat and shouting, “Keep my wife’s name out of your fucking of mouth.”
The joke Chris made was a reference to the 1997 film GI Jane – which featured Demi Moore sporting a buzzcut similar to Jada’s.
Jada has previously opened up about her decision to shave her head after suffering from alopecia.
But it wasn’t the first time Will had had a falling out with another celebrity. In fact, he’s had two fairly well-known beefs in the past that may have been overlooked by fans until now.
And one with rapper Eminem, also from an awards ceremony.
In 1998, Will beat Eminem for Best Male Video at the MTV VMAS.
He won the crown for his hit Miami, beating Eminem’s iconic My Name Is.
When he won, Will said he never “had to swear” in any of his songs to receive an accolade.
Eminem took it as a personal dig, as the only other artists in the category were Lenny Kravitz and Ricky Martin (for Fly Away and Livin’ la Vida Loca) who are both notable for their lack of swearing in songs.
The following year, Eminem received the award he had missed, for The Real Slim Shady.
But it became clear that he never forgot what was said.
Upon accepting his award, the Marshall Mathers star said: “ Will Smith don’t have to swear to sell records / Well I do / So fuck it. And fuck you too.
the The Lose Yourself musician then poked fun at the Independence Day actor by referencing him in the music video for “Forgot About Dre.”
In part of the film, the music stops and a supposedly drunk Eminem says to the reporter, “Yeah, all I know is I’m upstairs listening to my CD of Will Smith and I saw all those flames.”
Will would retaliate, and in his 2005 song Mr Nice Guy, he said, “Mr. Nice Guy, relationship counselor… Light on the vices, priceless smile… Look at the eyes, I’ve got the look… Of a survivor, husband , dad…Dispelled by Eminem but didn’t mind him…Yeah well he got class…Big Will just did another 20 million walk right in front of E…I’m a nice guy, why you gon’ tell me harass, huh!”
And it does not stop there !
Will also had a high-profile beef with his former co-star on the show that made his name.

Her on-set feud with original Viv Aunt, Janet Hubert-Whitten, became so tense that the actress ended up being replaced.
She has since told TMZ that she would never consider a Fresh Prince reunion.
She said: “I’ve been in the business for 10 years and this snotty-nosed punk comes along and gets a show.”
She added that she would “never do anything with an a**hole like Will Smith”.
